In 1969 a group of friends broke away from a national bus enthusiast group to form the Solent Omnibus Club and nearly forty years on, many of those founding members are still involved. The Club defines its geographical area as being from the beautiful yachting town of Lymington in the west, to the cathedral city of Chichester in the east, and north as far as the ancient capital of Winchester. The objective of the Club is to keep up-to-date with operator and service developments in the area and to this end a bi-monthly news letter is produced, whilst monthly meetings give members the opportunity to explore and discuss the national and international public transport scene.
Membership consists of former and current industry employees; enthusiasts, young and old; photographers and preservationists. This diversity ensures meetings are lively, interesting and above all friendly.
New members are always welcome, for details use the 'Contact Us' screen. We look forward to hearing from you.
